Southern California Edison has started its new green energy project. This project will be the biggest project of its kind in the United States. Edison project will have the ability to transmit 4,500 megawatts of electricity from simple wind farms with collaboration with other electric generating companies.
The project known as SCE’s Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project focuses on cleaner and more reliable energy. The project includes upgraded high voltage transmission lines for transmitting the newly renewable energy.
Construction of the Tehachapi project will mark the largest wind energy facility in the United States. The Tehachapi project will be funded by a $1.8 billion dollar program whose main goal is to provide high voltage transmission infrastructure to California residence.
The project has set its completion date in 2013. If the project is successful the plant can supply electric energy to nearly 3million homes. Hopefully this is one step towards cleaner energy.
